ABOUT US

World Wheelchair Express Foundation supports athletes with a disability in Southeast Asia.
We are a Canadian foundation providing people with disabilities with the opportunity to participate in organised local, national and international sport. We provide wheelchair sports equipment, information, coaching and assist in development of infrastructure to create effective sustainable sports programs.
We aim to increase life quality among persons with disabilities through physical activity and disability awareness in their community.
We are located in Calgary, Alberta, and have recently established another office in Norway. For further information contact:

How it all started:
”In the late 90’s, I attended a wheelchair race in Oita,Japan, the largest wheelchair race in the world. This race attracts many of the best in the sport, most with state of the art equipment.
I met a small group of athletes from the Philippines, who despite their home-maderacing chairs performed well in this elite field.
I was impressed by the tenacity and determination
of this group and recognized the limitations imposed by their race-chairs.
At the end of the race, I donated my race-chair to the group, over the course of the next few years sent several more race chairs and travelled to the Philippines to support their para sport programs. It was during these visits that the dream became reality and WWEF was born."
